I'm a student worker at the Annual Fund...

Beth Horton, a junior here at the University of Arkansas, shares what it means to her to be a student worker for the Office of Annual Programs:

I began working in the Office of Annual Programs in November of 2008. I primarily write letters to donors, work with staff members on solicitations and assist with events. While working here, I?ve learned a lot of lessons that will help me in the real world. Working in a big office with many departments has taught me that while everyone may work on a separate task, in the end, we all have the same goal for the university. I?ve also had the opportunity to learn more about the production side of things, such as how much work goes into creating appeals and planning and preparing for campus events.

Working in the Office of Annual Programs has really opened my eyes to the dedication and hard work that goes into raising private gift support so students like me can fulfill their dreams of receiving a college education. When I started working here, there were only two other employees working with the Annual Fund, and today there are four. With every new position, I see more opportunity to help raise money for the university and steward our generous donors.

It is rewarding to work in such a creative atmosphere where my efforts help my fellow classmates. I?m amazed to see how much everyone in Development loves the University of Arkansas, and how much energy everyone puts into making our school better for current students like me, and students to come. I?m very proud to work here, and I could not have asked for a better job during college.
